Top Dead Center Wins Week 8 in First Round of Band Madness 2024

The Electric Palm in Woodbridge, VA, has quickly become one of Top Dead Center's favorite places to play. The patrons and staff are amazing, the stage has tons of real estate, and folks really seem to have received us well! Last year we just missed the cutoff for The Palm's annual "Band Madness" event. This year, we made sure to get on board early!

Band Madness is an elimination-style competition that pits dozens of local bands against each other in three-group sets. For 2024, Band Madness has run on Sundays, featuring three new bands every week for nine weeks. Each band plays a 45-minute set, and the crowd on hand submits a paper ballot selecting their favorite band that day. The band receiving the most votes that day wins the round and moves on to the semi-finals.

On Sunday, 14 April, Top Dead Center squared off in the 8th of 9 first-round matchups, facing stiff competition The Too Extra Band and Kill the King. After the powerful vocals and dulcet harmonies of The Too Extra band charmed the crowd and the high-energy, super-tight performance from Kill the King further energized the audience, Top Dead Center hit the stage with our trademark all-rock, full-attitude style. We brought it with everything we had, and blistered through an 8-song set. After a final few minutes to collect and tally the final votes, Top Dead Center emerged victorious! While winning the Week 8 contest was gratifying, the best part of the day was getting to meet and spend some time with our fellow musicians in the competition. Both the ladies of Too Extra and the guys from Kill the King were lovely, kind, and gracious humans, and we thoroughly enjoyed listening to them play their sets and getting the opportunity to hang out with them before and after each set. Both bands deserve all the support and accolades they receive!

We'll be moving on to the semi-final round, where we'll face two more undoubtedly talented bands. As soon as we know the date and time, we'll post it to the Shows page. We take nothing for granted, so we're putting in the work on a few extra spicy things for the semis. We'll be ready, and we can't wait to see you there!
